This project was achieved through the efforts of concerned citizens as well as the Trust for Public Land and other entities. Cowell Ranch/John Marsh is one of California’s newest state parks, although currently not open to the public. Portions of the masonry structure were on the verge of collapse when California State Parks prepared and issued a partial stabilization repair scheme and bid package.

Project Details

Rainbow Waterproofing & Restoration was asked to bid the partial stabilization of the historic home as one of two select bidders. Rainbow was awarded a contract for the work. The scope of work included the following.

  • Repointing select mortar joints at three elevations
  • Cleaning and sealing the masonry components of three elevations
  • Stabilizing falling stone with specialized stainless steel anchors
  • Reinstallation of salvaged stone
  • Installation of confinement bracing.
  • Rebuilding interior common brick masonry walls
