Removing the paint from the existing sandstone without damaging the stone. Removing and replacing the Terra Cotta Rope on the 9th floor water table. Removing & replacing the Terra Cotta Scrolls on 11th floor.
Project Details
Full restoration of the exterior façade on the Historic Aaronson Building built in 1903. The Aaronson Building was damaged in the 1906 earthquake but survived the fires in the aftermath of this historic event. The project consisted of the restoration of the following items:
- The removal and replacement of more than 150 terra cotta block manufactured by Gladding McBean. The terra cotta units weighed more than 800 lbs each.
- Terra Cotta bisque and glaze spall of ornate terra cotta units
- Sheet Metal Cornice on Third & Mission Streets
- Cast Iron Storefront on the first two levels of the building
- The Brick Façade on all four elevations requiring custom brick manufactured by HC Muddox.
- Sandstone Cladding on the first three floors along Third & Mission Streets using precast concrete “Dutchman”
- Concrete fireproofing repair on existing steel columns and beams.
