Highlights

Installing decorative terra cotta scroll blocks located at the 19th floor below the walk around deck.

Biggest Challenge

Access was the most difficult challenge; we constructed rigid frame scaffolding off the 19th floor that extended 5 floors to the roof. Work below the 19th floor was completed with suspended swing stages.

Project Details

Terra-cotta restoration included the following repairs: bisque spalls, glaze spalls, glaze coatings, mortar repointing, cleaning, and sealing. Individual terra cotta block unit replacement and steel anchorage supports. Sections of glazed brick masonry removed to treat corroded steel, and new masonry was installed. Window restoration included abatement of hazardous materials, installation of new sealants, and painting of window frames. Terra-cotta roof tiles were completely replaced, concrete was repaired, and new-membrane underlayment, and new copper gutters were installed.
